The Help The Help by Kathryn Stockett

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The Help is so delicious, so compelling that I wish I had another ten stars to give it. The characters’ voices are so distinct that I can hear them talking to me. The tension throughout is palpable. Like the three main characters, Aibileen, Minny & Skeeter, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, not sure what was going to happen or which direction to expect it from.

This is the sort of book that made me fall in love with reading. It swept me away. It is also the sort of book I wish I had the skill to write.

P.S. The author’s postscript, “Too Little, Too Late,” is as poignant as the rest of the book.
