Signs of spring have made their appearance this weekend in Central Minnesota – most notably with a rise in temperatures, which in turn leads to massive snow-melt. The temp got to around 47 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday and up to 53 today. Our Land of 10,000 Lakes has turned into the Land of 50 Billion Puddles as Big as Lakes. That’s partially due to the fact that the snow is melting fast, but also because the ground is still pretty frozen and the water has nowhere to go.
We have our own massive puddle on the sidewalk in front of our house. We get the puddle every year at this time because the sidewalk has a slight dip that keeps the water from flowing into the street.
Lucky you! I took pictures! Here it is, our very own Warner Lake, although we’re considering calling it Elvig Lake after the person who built our house.
Note how long our lake is. Perhaps the Loch Ness Monster could take up residence here.
