I had never heard of the Caring Bridge website until a week ago, and now, unfortunately, I’ve had occasion to hear of it twice, both for acquaintances with sudden health crises. For those of you who don’t know of the site, it allows people to create free, personalized websites for their loved ones who are undergoing serious health issues. The personal page can then be updated with the loved one’s health status as it fluctuates. This helps keep everyone apprised of the situation without the caregiver having to repeat things dozens of times while dealing with the stress of the loved one’s illness. The site also allows visitors to leave comments of support.
Here’s hoping I (or you) never have a need for Caring Bridge, but it’s good to know the service is available should a need arise.
