How many pairs of Converse tennis shoes should one household be able to own? I have to admit, we’ve been a little crazy with the Converse recently. Hubby started it. He found a pair at DSW shoes and bought them to flesh out his wardrobe. He’s always been a shoe hound, like his grandma, but had reached a point where many of his shoes were worn out. So, he had a pair and loved them. Then, he discovered the Converse store at the Albertville Outlet Mall. Upon an outing to retrieve Eldest Son, the two of them stopped and bought two pairs each.
Within a few days, we had to return Eldest Son to school. We planned to stop at the Albertville Converse store in order to get Young Son #2 some new tennies, as well. It just so happens that Daughter and Argentinian Daughter were on a group trip to the Mall of America and the Albertville Mall the same day. The timing of our trip couldn’t have been better. We (Hubby, Eldest Son, Young Son and I) arrived at the Converse store and were perusing the selection when who should appear but Daughter and Argentinian Daughter – with friends in tow. We bought Young Son two pairs of shoes that day. Daughter thought it would be no fair if the boys got shoes, but she didn’t, so she got two pairs. I found a pair for $10 and managed to restrain myself from further purchases by looking at the new Skechers on my feet. (We like to call them Skeeeechers.) Argentinian Daughter bought two pairs, as did many of her travel mates. The Converse store owes a debt of gratitude to the Argentinian contingent.
So, then, have you been able to keep track of how many Converse tennis shoes are in our household? All in all, we have thirteen pairs, including an old pair Daughter had purchased a number of years ago. Here’s a little photo essay of our Converse craziness.
While I was arranging the shoes for these photos, Daughter came along and said, “What? There’s a science to this?” in reference to my fussing for the camera. And then she decided to take some pictures of the shoes. Suddenly, it seemed to her to be a good idea to arrange the shoes in order by color. Her photo:
