I found a New York Times story about the stress of blogging via Slashdot. Even though I try to take breaks from posting and only really try for one post a day, I sometimes feel stressed by coming up with regular articles. I’ve gotta learn to walk away.
I don’t think any amateur blogger should feel obliged to write regular posts.
A felt obligation will lead to a drop in the quality of the writing.
We should write only when we feel like it.
Here’s a link to a site called Blogging Without Obligation, which provides a widget with the letters BWO (Blogging Without Obligation).

One of its maxims says: Sometimes less is more.
Quite.
Hey,
I really don’t understand why you have to walk away. Just ask yourself if you are blogging at the cost of your health? Or if blogging has made you neglect your responsibilities towards your family and friends?
If your answer is a ‘no’, then I think you really don’t have to walk away. Just do what you like; after you have finished with doing what you have to. 🙂
Or is blogging as an addiction has created a fear in you that one day, you may get ‘yes’ as an answer to the above questions?
@Caroline:
Hey, you are very right Caroline. I sometimes write very few posts per month, and I’m sometimes bothered by the fact that I’m not blogging much. However, I try my best not to post just for the sake of posting. 🙂

Oh, happy day, Caroline & Manoj! Caroline, the link you provided to tartx’s Down the Rabbit Hole was a godsend. As you can see, I added the Blogging Without Obligation widget to my sidebar. Gotta love the blackbirds. It looks so Poe.
Manoj – I am happy to say that I don’t blog at the cost of my health, nor do I neglect my responsibilities. I have so much to do at times that sometimes I get overwhelmed and start feeling like everything is too much. I’ve especially felt that way at work the last few weeks and it bleeds over into my home life and my blog life.
For all of you readers out there, I actually love blogging on Woo Woo. Normally, I have many more ideas of things to post than I want to throw at you at any given time, so I try to rein myself in (although I’m sure you’ve seen the days when I’ve put up three posts). Breaks are nice, though, and allow me to recharge.
Here’s to Blogging Without Obligation!
I completely love blogging!!
I’m just not obsessed with it…
