I’m all excited. WordPress must have been hearing this from all quarters because it has finally created a widget specifically for Twitter. Previously, if I wanted my Twitter feed in the sidebar of my blog, I had to use the RSS Feed widget and wonkify in in order to get it to work. Now, I just choose the Twitter widget, enter my user name and the number of tweets I want to display and voila! I’ve got tweets on my blog. Wheeeeee!

maybe I should get on this whol twitter bandwagon. I get tired just thinking about it, though, honestly.

I know, Erin. The thought of signing up for more and more and MORE and MORE online applications is tiring. Yet another thing to keep track of. While I have a Facebook page, it totally suffers because I take more time for my blog and Twitter account. I think I’ve finally figured out how to make Twitter manageable. TweetDeck helps, plus I try to use it only a couple of times a day and I’ve learned how to skim updates. I like Twitter for the social aspect and I’ve noticed that it has boosted my blog readership.

But it’s not working!? The link is live to my Twitter feed, I can click and see it, but the tweets don’t list out in the sidebar.
Are you seeing this problem also? Thanks!

Hi, cparente – Actually, right now my tweets aren’t posting in the sidebar. I’ve got a message that says, “No response from Twitter.” Seeing as how the tweets HAVE shown up before and I’ve also gotten this message before and it’s resolved itself, I’d say the problem could be a technical glitch with either WordPress or Twitter. My bet is on Twitter because their system so often goes wonky or is overwhelmed with tweets. Twitter also has a habit of reconfiguring things, so that might be it, too.
I did a quick search for Twitter not working in WordPress and found a page with a load of comments that might have the answer to your dilemma:

One thing I discovered is that your Twitter timeline must me set to enable viewing by the public in order for the widget to work. Private tweets won’t show up. The other suggestions I’m seeing are to refresh your page and to empty your cache in order to see if your tweets will load properly.
If you do a search for Twitter on WordPress, you’ll find several helpful links, including this one:

Good luck!
